こんな言い方はどうでしょうか。
I slept through the alarm.→私は目覚ましの音に気付かずに寝過ごしてしまいました。
I slept through the alarm clock.→私は目覚ましの音に気付かずに寝過ごしてしまいました。
「sleep through ～」は「～の間中眠り続ける」（スーパー・アンカー英和辞典）という意味です。
「目覚まし時計」は、「alarm clock」または「alarm」と言います。
「sleep through the alarm clock」または「sleep through the alarm」と、「the」を「alarm clock」や「alarm」の前に付けてください。
「the」を付けると、「自分がセットした目覚まし（時計）」という意味になります。

going offの代わりにringingでもいいでしょう。
I didn't hear my alarm clock and slept in =アラームが聞こえずに寝入ってしまった
sleep in =いつもより長く寝る事
体調が悪い時、寝坊してしまった、休日だから、などと色んな場面で使えるフレーズです。
2. I don't know if my alarm went off! I didn't hear it, so overslept.
This seems like you just need to state the facts in the sequence that they occurred:
"I didn't hear my alarm go off - and overslept."
If you wanted to, of course you could give some further information so you do not appear to be totally at fault: "I don't know if my alarm went off! I didn't hear it, so overslept."
If you wish to make an excuse for being late, you could also state that, "The alarm battery needs replacing."
