「ハンドル(車)を手で持ちかえる」って英語でなんて言うの？

「ハンドルを少しだけ回す場合には、ハンドルを手で持ちかえる必要はない」 There's no need to change your grip on the steering wheel if you can turn it at just a little bit. ところで「ハンドル」は車の場合には和製英語です。スーツケースとかの持ち上げるところは「handle」ですが、車のハンドルは「steering wheel」（省略して「wheel」）です。
