「発電所」は英語で「power plant」または「power station」といいます。
「Plant」は「植物」と言う意味で覚えている人が多いと思いますが、「工場」と言う意味もあります。
同じように、「station」は「駅」で覚えてる人が多いですが、「所」と言う意味で使うことがあります。
「That huge building over there is the power plant.」
「あそこにある巨大な建物は発電所です。」
発電所に種類がありますね。
石炭発電所- coal(fired) power plant
地熱発電所- geothermal power plant
火力発電所- thermal power plant
水力発電所- hydroelectric power plant
風力発電所- wind power station, wind farm
原子力発電所- nuclear power plant, atomic power plant
