フレーズの直訳は確かに
Thank you for giving birth to me
です。
Thank you for ~ ing = 〜してくれてありがとう
しかし、直接「give birth」（産む）というと、お母さんが産んでいるイメージ（たとえば叫び、赤ちゃんの鳴き声、病院など）が出てくるから、少しおかしいです。英語では、言い回しでその気持ちを伝えます。

命を与えてくれてありがとうございます
このフレーズの方は「命」が中心になっているからイメージが明るく、ポジティブです。
Thank you for bringing me into this world
この世界に運んでくれてありがとうございます。
このフレーズの方は完全に出産の言い回しです。でも嫌なイメージがなく、逆に出産の良いところ（新しい命、新しい子どもができたこと）を中心にしますからとても良いフレーズです。これはネイティブがよく使います。

女性の場合は、son の代わりに daughterを入れます。

While thanking your parents for bringing you into the world is perfectly natural, it's more common for people to thank their parents for simply being parents. This includes all of the work involved in raising a child, as well as the physical act and gift of life. But all of these expressions are very beautiful!

In English, to say:"Thanks for giving birth to me," seems too direct and quite strange. However, an indirect compliment as exampled above where you state your parents have been wonderful to you fulfills the same function, I think you could say, "Thank you for bringing me into the world," in a certain special situation perhaps.

Sacrifice in this context (not the religious context), is to give up things for the sake of someone else. Your parents gave so much of their time, money, love and affection to you; even though they would have gotten very little of this back in return from you. They did it because they loved you and not because they expected anything in return. So they sacrificed so much of their life for you.
Thank you for being the reason I exist is a respectable way of giving thanks to your parents for providing you existence on earth, which you experience through your human vessel that most likely developed inside the womb of your mother.
