1.) at the actual place (現地で) 「現地」は英語でactual placeと訳せます。「現」という漢字は英語でactualという意味があります。「地」という漢字は英語でplaceという意味があります。今回の「で」という助詞は英語でatと訳せばいいです。
例えば、
I'm planning on studying abroad, but things I can do at the actual place, I'll do at the actual place. I think it's best to focus on the things I need to prepare before going. (留学に行く予定ですが、現地でできることのは現地で、行く前にできることは事前にやっておいた方がいいと思います)
I should do whatever I can do in Japan before I leave, then take care of the rest once I arrive in Canada.
There are some things I'll need to do before leaving Japan but I can do the rest after I get there.
「現地」は local, actual place, on-site などの言い方がありますが、この場合これらを使うと不自然な言い方になってしまいます。
例えば留学先がカナダだとすると、１のように言うことで「現地」のニュアンスになります。
1) I should do whatever I can do in Japan before I leave, then take care of the rest once I arrive in Canada.
「日本でできることは日本でやって、残りはカナダに到着してからやったほうが良い。」
2) There are some things I'll need to do before leaving Japan but I can do the rest after I get there.
「日本を発つ前にやることがあるが、残りは現地に着いてからできる。」
there を使って「現地」を表現することもできます。
after I get there で「そこに着いてから」＝「現地に着いてから」
