"Getting on" means how one is dealing with things or people. This expression can be used as a broad way to ask how a situation is working out for a person. Another similar expression that can mean the same thing is "getting along."
School behaviour is a common phrase used in this instance. So when we talk about how a child is doing at school we often say things like, "He is behaving himself well at school."
If you ask the question, how is my son/daughter doing at school? It is an open question. It means you are asking their teacher: how well they are learning, are they fitting in with their class mates, are they behaving well, are they enjoying themselves at school, etc.
These three examples give you many different options for expressing the same point.
How is he/she doing in class? - specifies their behavior in class
How is he/she getting along at school? - this is more of a general term for their school work
Is everything going well? - this option is slightly more informal but it gets straight to the point of "how are things"?

If you want to ask your child's teacher about how your child does at school, you can ask any of the following questions:-
1. How does he/she behave at school?
Parent " Can you tell my how my son John behaves at school?"
Teacher "Sure, actually John is a very well-behaved student, he is always attentive in class, and he
is also a very bright student."
2.Can you tell me about my child's performance at school?
Parent " Can you tell me about my child's performance at school?"
Teacher " Lisa seems to have some emotional prpblems, I suggest you take her to a professional child psychologist."
It means you are asking the teacher about your child's behavior or performance in school. When we say performance that means is he/she active in class and how are his/her grades.
You'd like to enquire how your child is at school. You want to ask the child's teacher. In this scenario, one of the above suggested queries will probably be suitable. The last suggestion is an indirect question - although there is no question mark. You are stating the purpose of your call and the question will be inferred to the listener.
All 3 of the above mentioned sentences are correct, but they each have tiny differences.
1) What is his/ her performance during school like?
This question should be asked when the parent wants to know about the child's overall performance. This includes the test marks and the behavior of the child. So the teacher can thus say "Ling is a happy student and she got 95% for her last test".
2) What is his/her marks for the test?
This question is more aimed at the academic results of the school. This should be asked when the parent wants specific feedback on the child's studies.
3) What is his/her behavior like during school?
This question is aimed at asking after the child's well-being. Checking on whether the child is happy or grumpy.
