先生が勘違いしないようにしたいなら、こういう風に言った方がいいです：
I don’t really understand the material. I just looked at the answers and Japanese translation.
「実は内容がそんなに解らないです。日本語訳と回答を見ただけです。」

I have no idea でさっぱり分からないという意味になります。
not at all で少しも～ないという意味です。
例 I cannot read the sentence at all. その文章は全く読めません。(少しも読めません）
have to ～しなくてはならない、の過去形had to を使って、答えと日本語訳を見らざるを得なかったと言ってもいいと思います。
