残り = to be left; remaining
時間 = time
少ない = a little; a few
Remaining の方が固い言葉です。日常会話では left を使います。少ないということは a little / a few ですが、time は数えられないので、a little を使います。
X There is a few time left.
O There is a little time left.
逆に there is ではなく、there is not を使えば much が必要になります。There is no time left を言ったら、時間が全くないという意味になります。ですが、much time を言ったら、時間は少しあると理解できます。
「残り時間が少ない」は英語で "limited time left" または "limited time remaining" と言います。
例文：
There is limited time left for the quiz. 「テストを終わらせれる残り時間が少ない。」
There is limited time remaining to turn in your essay. 「エッセイの提出日まで残り時間が少ない。」
