give someone directions で「人に道を教える・道案内する」
tell someone where places are in a picture で「写真の中の位置や場所を人に伝える」

人に場所を教えるときは、next to, beside, across, in front of など前置詞をよく使いますね。なのでこのような言い方もできるのではないでしょうか？
