英語で新型コロナの話をしていると “corona” と呼んでいる人も “COVID-19” と呼んでいる人もいます。「Aすると、B」は “If you A, B” になりますが、 “if” と “when” の使い分けが難しいと思う人が多いようです。 “If” は「もし」ですから、必ず起きる事ではありません。例えば、 “If there is a fire, please pull the fire alarm and evacuate.” （もし火事があったら、火災報知器のレバーを引っ張って、避難して下さい。）しかし “When there is a fire, please pull the fire alarm and evacuate.” と言ったら、「もし」じゃなくて、「火事が必ず起きる事」の意味になってしまいます。
