自分にもそういう部分があったんじゃないかと自分自身に問うって英語でなんて言うの？

歴史小説を読んでいます。その中で、登場人物の失敗の原因になった思考や性格について、私自身にもそういう部分（思考や性格）があったんじゃないかと自分自身に問い、自分を鑑みるきっかけとしているということを英語で表現する方法を教えていただけたら幸いです。

「この本に出てくる人について読んでいると、自分の性格や思考も彼と似ているのではないかと思う。」
I wonder if ... で「…だろうか」
personality で「性格・個性」
way of thinking で「思考・考え方」

ーThe more I read about this guy, the more I think I could be just like him in my thinking and in my personality.
「この男性について読めば読むほど、自分の考え方や性格も彼の(思考や性格）に似ているように思えてくる。」
the more I read ..., the more I think ... で「…を読めば読むほど、ますます…に思える」
