I think I know which one you're talking about = 多分何の事を話しているのか知っている
和訳するとぎこちないですが、例えばこう使いましょう:
A: Have you seen the new SF TV series? I forget what the title is.
(新しく出たSFのテレビドラマ観た？タイトル忘れちゃったんだよね。)
B: I think I know which one you're talking about, but I can't remember the title either.
(多分どれの話をしてるのか分かるけど、私もタイトル思い出せないな。)

hear of something は「そういうものがあるのだと耳にする、存在をうわさに聞く」といった意味合いです。
よく I've never heard of it. と否定形で「聞いたこともない」という意味で使いますが、もちろん肯定文や疑問文で使うこともできます。
例文）PM2.5? I've heard of, but I have no idea what it's like.（PM2.5? まあ聞いたことはあるけど、どういうものなのかは全然知りません。）
It rings a bell! - (one of my favourite expressions). If someone mentions a person's name or a place, you can say "It rings a bell" as in a bell or alarm is going off in your brain (somewhat like the light bulb emoji). As in; "Have you heard of Skegness?" - "That place does ring a bell! It's by the sea isn't it?" or "I saw Mike from school the other day!" - "Mike from school? The name rings a bell but I can't picture him!"
It's vaguely familiar! - Something that you know little about or can't remember much. As in; "I swear I've been here before, it seems vaguely familiar".
I know it/them - Used to clarify that you do know it & the conversation can continue. As in; "You know Charlie & Rox we met at the party?" - "I know them!" - "Well they've invited us out for dinner.".

（明確に確信はないけれど）それについて聞いたことがあると思う。
→ちょっと自信はないけどね、というニュアンスで

日本語だと「〜の名前」といろいろ表現できて便利なのですが、
この場合英語では"title"などと置き換えるとわかりやすいかと思います。
★ポイント：I know of it. → of は『一部』を表します。よって、knowと共に使うと、『その一部は知っている』＝詳しくは知らない＝名前を聞いたことはある、その存在は知っている、ということになります。
発音するときもofを強めに言うと『詳しくは知らないよ』ということをはっきりさせることができます。
ちなみに、
I know about it. だと、もっと詳しく知っている＝内容まで知っていることを言っていることになります。

The phrase, "I've heard of it," would probably be the most common response in this kind of situation but we can also mention that, "it sounds familiar," to say that we've heard the name before but we're not totally familiar or know about it.
It depends how much you have heard about the series. If you only know the name you can say "I've heard the name before" but if you can also say you "know what the series is about".

Referring to That this is something you have seen/been told about before and it 'rings a bell' (sounds familiar). A very widely used and casual expression.
"I've heard of this!"（聞いたことはあります）

Well, you could state directly that you do know about something about this series by using either of the first two examples above. Alternatively, you can indicate indirectly that you know something about this series by using the third example.
When someone asks you if you have a watched something but you haven't and you have heard about it you can say;
A; Have you watched the new series on Netflix called 'The I-land'?
B; No not yet but I have heard about it.
