There is an ocean between A and B. で「AとBの間に海がある」

ーThere is a sea that separates Japan and China.
「日本と中国を分ける海がある」=「日本と中国の間には海がある」
to separate で「分ける・切り離す」

ーChina and Mongolia are connected to each other's borders.
「中国とモンゴルは互いの国境に接している」
to be connected to ... で「…に繋がっている・接している」
