• "I usually pass that man a little further down the road."
  "I usually" 「私は普段」"normally" も使えます。
  "pass ~" 「〜とすれ違う」"cross paths with ~"　も言えます。
  "that man" 「彼」"him" も言えます。
  "a little" 「もう少し」
  "further down the road" 「先の道で」

"I normally cross paths with that man a little further down the road so seeing him here is proof that I am running late."
「普段彼とはもう少し先の道ですれ違うのでこんなとこで見かけるのは遅れている証拠だ」

この場合、次のような言い方ができますよ。

ーWe always cross paths further up the road, so seeing him here tells me I'm late for work.
「いつもならもうちょっと先ですれ違うから、彼をここで見かけるってことは、仕事に遅れているってことだ」
to cross paths「行き違う・すれ違う」
further up the road「道のもう少し先で」
