日常会話です。
言動とか表情とか態度とかをまとめて「様子」です。日本語だと「様子」という便利な言葉がありますが、英語ではattitude、nuance、とか言うのですか？」推測する」はspeculateだと会話では固い表現ですか？

☆ "speculate" も使えますが、確かにこのような日常会話では少しフォーマルなニュアンスがあります。例："From his behavior, I speculated that.... "＝「彼の態度から私は～だと推測した。」

この場合、次のような言い方ができますよ。

「彼の様子から彼が本気で〜をするというのがわかった」
この「様子」が表情のことを言っているなら、from the look on one's face のように言うと良いでしょう。
ーI can guess he was really intent on ~ing from the way he appeared.
「彼の様子から彼が本気で〜するきだと推測できる」
to intent on ~ing で「どうしても〜しようとする」
この「様子」が見かけなど外観のことを言っているなら、from the way one appeared のように言うこともできます。
