一般的には「Please hold」で「切らずにそのまま待っていてね」というニュアンスが伝わります。Please hold and waitといってもいいですね！
「切らないでね」という部分を強調したパターンが「Please stay on the line and wait」!

他の言い方はStay on the lineです。
the lineは電話のことです。
To put someone on hold は電話を切らずにしばらく止めることです。この場合待っている相手は音楽が聞こえます。

Sometimes when we are on the phone speaking to someone, something else might come up the requires our immediate attention. In such instances we may want to person on the phone to stay on the line but just hold on for a minute, If you want to express this you can say:-
1. Can you hold the line for a minute please?
2. Hold on a second please
