システム不具合が発生した際の現状報告メールでの言葉です。

under investigation で「調査中」となります。
例：
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
事件の原因は調査中です。

「調査する」という言葉に対応する英語はたくさんありますが、本件のように原因を究明するための調査の場合は、他のみなさまが書いていらっしゃるとおり、"investigate"が一番しっくりくるかと思います。
ただ、外資系企業の場合、本社の内部監査室などが実施する不祥事関連の社内調査を、"investigation”と呼んでいるケースがままあります。そのような場合には、"investigate"は使わない方が無難かもしれません。
というわけで、「ちょっと調べてます」程度の軽いニュアンスの表現で書いてみました。ご参考になれば幸いです。
