「評価する」にはappreciate, evaluate, recognize などが使えます。
「功績」は辞書で引くと「実績」と同じような英訳が出てくると思いますが、この場合の「功績」は「野球界への功績」ですのであえて「貢献」の意味のcontributionを使い、下のような文章にしてみましたがいかがでしょうか。
