Please reduce the size of the dish.
Please serve a half size of the dish.
May I have a smaller portion?
Could you bring me less of this dish please, I can't eat all of it
1. May I have a smaller portion of this please.
You could simply ask for a smaller portion of the item.
2,.Could you bring me less of this dish please, I can't eat all of it.
This is another way you can ask for a smaller portion, by asking for less.
1. May I have a smaller portion of this please.
2.Could you bring me less of this dish please, I can't eat all of it.
Waiters and waitresses are very happy when they have a customer who knows exactly what they want.
If you can be totally specific in a restaurant or cafe, then the proceedings should go very smoothly
- as long as your requests are not 'non-standard.'
"It seems like a very big portion that is served for this dish! Could you serve me a small portion only please?"
"Yes madam, certainly!"
"It seems like a very big portion that is served for this dish! Could you serve me a small portion only please?"
"Yes madam, certainly!"

I like this dish but serve me with only half of it please.
Please serve me with just half of this dish.
Its always important to ask politely. Politeness can always be achieved by adding the adverb 'please' to your question. Politeness is definitely required when requesting to be served the half portion due to the fact that its not standard practice for the restaurant to serve this dish as a half portion. In the first request, you start with 'I like this dish but'. You are actually saying 'although I like this dish', please serve me with only half of it.
So you may say:
I like this dish but serve me with only half of it please.
or
Please serve me with just half of this dish.
I like this dish but'.
'although I like this dish', please serve me with only half of it.(この料理が好きなのですが、半分の量だけください。)
I like this dish but serve me with only half of it please.(この料理が好きなのですが、半分の量だけください。)
または
Please serve me with just half of this dish.(この料理の半分の量だけください。)

A "portion" is the amount of food that is given to a person at a meal. You can also say that you do not want to leave food on the plate, or waste food.
