You are asking the other person to give you time to think
Hmmm, let me think about this for a moment please - you can say moment or minute - both are the same in this context.
You can change the time frame and say - let me think about this over the weekend or over the next week and I will get back to you.
It all depends on what question is being asked and how big a decision to have to make. Some people ned more than others to think about things
Hope this helps

Hmmm, let me think about this for a moment please
let me think about this over the weekend or over the next week and I will get back to you.

I am a slow-thinker and these two phrases are very typical for me, however, I prefer to use the second one because it's more polite and give the person an option to reply.
These are common and simple expressions to ask for a moment to think about the answer before you respond. If you are needing more than a minute, or even several days to think about your answer if it is a big decision, you can say "Give me some time to think." By not specifying how much time, you can take as long as you want. ;)
Give me some time to think"(少し考えさせてください)と言えます。
1. Give me a day or two to mull over it.
To mull over something means thinking long
and hard about something before making a decision.
2.Can I chew over the problem?
To "chew over" is a casual way of saying that you
need some time to reflect or contemplate a favor
or request.
3. May I have some time to ponder over it?
To ponder over something means to consider or
give some thought to something before finally
making up your mind.
1. Give me a day or two to mull over it.(一日、二日考えさせてください)
"To mull over something"
2. Can I chew over the problem?(少し考えさせてもらえますか)
3. May I have some time to ponder over it?(少し考える時間をいただけますか)
"To ponder over something"
Sorry, could you give me a second to think about that.
Can I have a moment to think about this please?
If someone asks you a question and you would like a minute to think about it, you can say something like "Sorry, could you give me a second to think about that." or "Can I have a moment to think about this please?". Both of these are polite ways of getting your message across.
"Sorry, could you give me a second to think about that."(すみません、少し考えさせてもらえますか)
"Can I have a moment to think about this please?"(少し考えさせてもらえますか)
The main thing that we need to use when talking about this subject is to use the verb, "to think," as this describes being able to reflect and have an internal conversation with ourselves before making a decision or doing something.
We can use these three different phrases to discuss and express this idea :
- I'd like some time to think about it.
- Let me think.
- Give me a minute to think.
- I'd like some time to think about it.(少し考える時間をいただきたいです)
- Let me think.(少し考えさせてください)
- Give me a minute to think.(少し考えさせてください)
