  • I'd like to take a day off today, I have a cold.

  • I'm gonna take a day off from work tomorrow.

[会社](会社)を一日[休む](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/43209/)場合は、take a day off を使います。 I'd like to take a day off today, I have a cold. I'm gonna (going to) take a day off from work tomorrow. take a day off work = 仕事を休む gonna は going to を略した少しカジュアルな言い方です。

  • get a day off work due to a cold

    play icon

  • take off work with a cold

    play icon

"get a day off" は「1日休みを取る(もらう)」という表現になります。" "take off work with 〜" は「〜で仕事を休む」という表現になります。

  • I've got a cold and I'm taking a day off today!

    play icon

  • Sorry, I'm ill and won't be into work today.

    play icon

  • Sorry, I've gone down with the flu and am too ill to work today.

    play icon

Well, you could say you just have a cold. But that seems not very serious! "I've got a cold and I'm taking a day off today!" For your employer to understand that you are really unwell, it is customary to 'beef up' your explanation so that it would appear you are really ill and unable to go to work: "Sorry, I've gone down with the flu and am far too ill to work today." To beef (something) up = give more substance or strength to something, toughen up, strengthen, build up, reinforce, substantiate, "Cost-cutting measures are planned to beef up performance." To go down with something = to start to suffer from an infectious disease: "Half of Martha's class has gone down with flu."
"I've got a cold and I'm taking a day off today!" 雇用主に本当に具合が悪いことを理解してもらうためには、本当に病気で仕事に行けないように見えるように説明を「強化する」ことが通例です: "Sorry, I've gone down with the flu and am far too ill to work today." (パフォーマンスを強化するためのコスト削減策が計画されている) To go down with something = 感染症に苦しみ始めること: "Half of Martha's class has gone down with flu."

  • sick day/sick leave

  • I would like to take a sick day.

    play icon

  • I need to take a sick day.

    play icon

Sick day/sick leave - a day off of work because you are sick, usually a paid day off Call in sick - Call your job and tell them you're sick and won't make it to work today = take a day off Call out - Call your job and tell them that you can't go to work today = take a day off Example sentences: I need to take a sick day. I'm not feeling so good today. I'm going to have to call in sick today, I have a cold. I need to take a day off of work because I have a cold. I need to take a sick leave. I have to call out of work today because I have a cold.
=“take a day off”(1日休む) “call out”とは、仕事場に連絡して、その日仕事に行けないことを言うことです。=”take a day off” 例文: “I need to take a sick day. I’m not feeling so good today.” “I'm going to have to call in sick today, I have a cold.” “I need to take a day off of work because I have a cold.” “I need to take a sick leave.” “I have to call out of work today because I have a cold.”

  • Im not going to make it in today. This cold has me feeling bad.

    play icon

  • I have started to feel a bit of a cold coming, I am calling off today.

    play icon

"Im not going to make it in today" means that you wont be coming to work for the day. "This cold has me feeling bad" shows that you are not feeling well and that's the reason you will not be at work. "I have started to feel a bit of a cold coming" shows that you are feeling the early stages of a cold and you are expressing that you don't feel good. "Calling off" is an expression when you have not scheduled for a day off from work but for whatever the current situation may be you are alerting you boss you are not coming to work.
"Im not going to make it in today" (今日は出社できそうにありません)は仕事に行かないことを意味します。 "This cold has me feeling bad"(この寒さで具合が悪いです) は気分が悪くなり仕事に行けなくなることです。 "I have started to feel a bit of a cold coming" (風邪を引いたかもしれません) 風邪の初期症状を感じており具合が悪いことを表しています。

  • I will take sick leave today because I have a severe cold.

  • I will take day off today because I am down with a cold.

    play icon

In most countries, if an employee is sick and is unable to come to work, he/she is given sick leave legally. This is paid leave. Due to the dishonesty of some employees, most companies require a doctor's note confirming the sickness and booking the employee off for a day or two. Doctors do this in order to let the employee recover in a stress free environment and also to prevent the sick employee from infecting other employees, especially where diseases like colds and flu are concerned. So, you may say: I will take sick leave today because I have a severe cold. or I will take day off today because I am down with a cold.
"I will take sick leave today because I have a severe cold." "I will take day off today because I am down with a cold."

  • A sick day ...

  • I will have to take a sick day off work... due to me coming down with a cold!

    play icon

We all hate to get sick and wehn we are working with others it is bad form to take sickness to work and spread it around!..We should try to limit our exposure to others when we have colds and flu! We may need to take" a sick day " off work. "I will have to take a sick day off work... due to me coming down with a cold!"
"I will have to take a sick day off work... due to me coming down with a cold!"
