The snow in Tokyo doesn’t last long.
When the snow doesn't stay we say it doesn't "stick". This comes from the phrase "stick around" meaning to stay. Although we very rarely say "The snow stuck" or "The snow will stick".
雪が残らないことを"doesn't stick"(残らない)と言います。. "stick around"(とどまる)という意味が語源です。
但し、 "The snow stuck" （雪が残る）もしくは "The snow will stick"（雪は残るだろう）とはあまり言わないです。

Short lived =短命。

The three sentences you see above are great ways to express that even if it snows in Tokyo it melts quickly. In each sentence you will see an expression(right away, in a flash, on the spot). All of these expressions are common in our everyday conversation and would be a great addition to your vocabulary. The first sentence would be appropriate in a formal setting, while the last two sentences are appropriate in an informal setting.
三例とも、東京では雪が降っても直ぐに溶けてしまうと表す言い方です。

When we talk about snow in the UK we refer to whether it "sticks" or not, meaning whether it sticks to the ground. If the snow melts immediately on contact with the ground it is described as not sticking.
If you want to be more poetic in your description, very light snow is referred to as a "dusting" of snow, meaning a very light covering. Dusting is also used to describe a light covering of flour or icing sugar in baking.
雪について話す時、イギリスではくっつく(stick)かどうかについて言及します。これは地面に残るかどうかという意味です。
もしも雪が地上に落ちた瞬間溶ければ”not sticking”(くっつかない)というふうに言い表されます。

We would use the verb, "to melt," when talking about the snow not being able to stay on the ground because its too hot and ultimately turns it just into water. We can also talk about how it, "never lasts long," to talk more about its duration of staying on the ground.
