「残り」って英語でなんて言うの？

「昨日の晩ごはんの残り」といったような「残り」だと"leftover from last night"
「残り５分」などの場合は、"5 minutes left" あるいは "5 more minutes"といった表現ができます。

5 minutes left と同義で
5 minutes remaining. を使うこともあります。同義です。

例えば
There are 5 (more) minutes remaining until the end of the game.
試合終了まであと(もう)5分あります。

●He drank the remainder of his coffee
彼は残ったコーヒーを飲んだ

●There's fifteen minutes remaining
あと１５分残っています(テスト中採点官が言ったりします）
15分を一つとして考えて、There's (there is)で良いと思います。

↑と同じ意味で

●There's fifteen minutes left
と言ったりもします。

「残り」は場合によって言葉が変わります。

「残り●●●です。」は what's left になります。

例）

残りは500円
What's left is 500 yen

「残りがある。」は There's some left になります。

○○の残りは the rest of になります。

例）

子供たちの残りはプールに行った
The rest of the children went to the pool
