  • That phrase seems very similar to the other phrase isn't it?

  • That phrase is virtually identical to the other phrase, isn't it?

Whenever somneone requires confirmation about something, they may state their thoughts and add a question tag at the end of their comment: "I'm taller than you, aren't I?" When comparing two things you may use the phrase: "virtually identical" "Travelling by train in Italy is virtually identical to travellingf by train in France."
何かがあっているか確認したいときは、自分の考えを述べ、以下の文のように、文の最後に付加疑問を付け加えます。 I'm taller than you, aren't I? 私、あなたより背が高いですよね? 2つのものを比べるときは、‘virtually identical`(ほぼ同じ)というフレーズを使うこともできます。 Travelling by train in Italy is virtually identical to travellingf by train in France. イタリアを電車で旅行するのと、フランスを電車で旅行するのはほぼ同じこと。

  • Are these two phrases interchangeable?

  • Does these mean the same thing?

  • Do these two phrases basically mean the same thing? / Do these two phrases have the same meaning?

two things are interchangeable - this means that you can change one thing for the other, and it would make no difference... so if they have the same meaning, you can use one or the other e.g. This dress is too identical to one I already own-- they are practically interchangeable! I don't think I'll get it then because it looks too much like something I already own.
two things are interchangeable - これは、その二つと取り換えても変わりがないということ。つまり、どちらも同じ意味で使えるということ。    例: This dress is too identical to one I already own-- they are practically interchangeable! I don't think I'll get it then because it looks too much like something I already own. このドレスは、もう持っているものと全く一緒だわ。取り換えてもわからないわ!自分が持っているのとすごく似ているからそしたら買わないわ。

  • Is A similar to B?

  • Is that phrase similar to the one I learned yesterday?

For two things to be similar it means that they are the same in a lot of ways but not exactly the same. (not identical) Example: Q: Is this recipe similar to the one you gave me last week? A: Yes it's very similar, but this one has a secret ingredient. This implies that they are almost the same but with a slight difference.
「similar」は、全く同じではないが多くの点で同じであることを表します。 例: Q: Is this recipe similar to the one you gave me last week?(これは先週教えてくれたレシピと似ていますか) A: Yes it's very similar, but this one has a secret ingredient.(はい、すごく似てます、でもこれには隠し味があります)

  • Is phrase A and B similar to each other?

  • Are these two phrases similar?

Similar means like or having a likeness. For example: I look similar to my mom, is just like saying that I look like my mom. Here is one way to use similar, "Is phrase A and B similar to each other?" and another way to use them is, "Are these two phrases similar?"
"similar" は「似ている」という意味です。 例えば、"I look similar to my mom" は "I look like my mom"(私は母親に似ている)と同じ意味です。 "similar" を次のように使うことができます。 "Is phrase A and B similar to each other?" (フレーズAとBは似ていますか) また、次のように言うこともできます。 "Are these two phrases similar?" (この二つのフレーズは似ていますか)

  • Is phrase B similar to phrase A

  • Is phrase B nearly the same as phrase A

If something is siilar to something else then it is also said to be 'nearly the same' so both these sentences mean the same thing and are good to use to describe this
何かが似ていることは、'similar' に加えて、'nearly the same' でも表せます。ですから、これらの文はどちらも同じ意味です、この場面で使うことができます。
