It's in the direction of the north

1. When someone asks for "directions" to a certain location, some may say "head East," or, "continue South." These types of "directions" are commonly heard on a Global Positioning System (GPS) while driving a car.
2. On a compass, there are "points" or "marks" for North, East, South and West. The compass arrow is always pointing due North. It is common to see people using a compass while camping or hiking since a GPS may not receive signal in their area. When offering directions to campers and hikers, they will most likely understand the points on a compass and can read one.
Which way is north?
Which way did he go?
I have no sense of direction.

Anyone who speaks English will know that when you say "cardinal directions" that you are talking about the points on the compass, which are North, South, East, and West. You could also say the points of the compass but you would be best understood saying cardinal directions.
the points of the compassと言うこともできますが、 cardinal directionsと言うのがベストでしょう。
These are the mainpoints on a compass, known as" The four cardinal directions:"
NSEW, are of course compass points and provide the headings for those seeking directions;-D We would literally be lost witout them!
"These are the mainpoints on a compass, known as "The four cardinal directions"
"The four cardinal directions"
Most people would say "In which direction should I go?" and then you would answer with either "South, East, West or North."You won't hear the words "Cardinal points" very much on the streets. "Compass points" are common and used by people when referring to a compass but in general when you're having a normal conversation with someone who isn't a scientist saying "direction" is acceptable and understood by many.
Hope this helps!
"In which direction should I go?"(どっちの方向に行けばいいですか)
と言います、それから「South(南)」「East(東)」「West(西)」または「North(北)」と答えます。
「Cardinal points」
