Explanation: The two above responses are quite typical ones if you did not do as well as you wanted. A more positive reply if you did well might be: "Better than expected."
Example sentence:
A. "How did the interview go?"
B. "Not so well, I'm afraid."

To show that you didn't do very well on a test, you could say 'I didn't do very well', which means 'I didn't do the test very well'. Alternatively, you could use the words, 'I don't think I did very well' which suggests that you don't know the result yet, but you are pretty sure it went badly. You could also say 'it didn't go very well', which describes the same thing, but uses 'it' instead of 'the test'.
テストでよくできなかったと言いたいなら、'I didn't do very well'と言えるでしょう。これは、'I didn't do the test very well'（テストがよくできなかった）という意味です。

This phrase means we accomplished something very successfully. This phrase would be appropriate for an informal setting, like talking with friends or family.
