My old company always translated cards like Suica, Pasmo or Manaca (in Naogya) as "pass cards."
You can use it like this:

You can always use phrases like "train pass" or "train card," as well:

Technically speaking, IC cards are referred to as Intelligent Cards or Smart Cards. They are smart in the sense that one card can have many different functions. Smart may also refer to the electronic memory capability.

In New York City, one can use a Metro Card to travel on public buses and trains. In NY slang any kind of transportation IC card might be called a Metro Card even if it is not an actual Metro Card.
