学年が上がる、進級するって英語でなんて言うの？

こんにちは^^ 「学年が上がる、進級する」ですね？ 日本の[小中学校](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/78796/)などで、単純に次の[学年](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/42350/)に上がるという意味であれば、 ①go to the next grade My son will go to the next grade in April. 息子は4月に次の学年に上がります。 ※ grade = 学年 ※ next grade = 次の学年 My son will be a fifth grader at the elementary school next April. 息子は来年の4月に小学校5年生になります。 ※ elementary school = 小学校 日本の[高校](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/42187/)などで、単位が取れて次の学年に上がるという意味であれば、 ② My son had enough credits to go to the next grade. 息子は単位が取れて、次の学年に上がります。 My son will be a third grader at the high school next April since he had enough credits. 息子は高校で単位が取れて、来年の4月に高校3年生になります。 日本での進級の説明ですが、お役に立てればと思います^^ アダム先生＆ミチコ先生

1) Pass to the next grade/year 次の学年へ進級する 一般的によく使われる表現です。Passは単純に「[合格](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/36185/)」を示すことばですが、進級を表す言葉としても使います。また、the next grade/yearとつけなくても、"pass"だけで、進級の意を指すことができます。 ex. I passed this year, thanks to my hard work. 今年は頑張ったおかげで、進級できた。 2) Move on to the next grade/year 次の[学年](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/42350/)へ進級する 同じ意味ですが、非英語圏の方などにはよりわかりやすい表現かもしれません。

学年が上がるや進級するは英語ではこのようです。 (1) to go up a grade 例文 Mother: How were your grades this year? 母：今年の成績はどうだった？ Son: I passes all my classes! I get to go up a grade next year. 息子：全てのクラスを合格したよ！来年に学年が上がる。 (2) move on to the next grade 例文 Friend A: Did you pass math class? 友達 A:　数学のクラスを合格したの？ Friend B: Yes, I passed! I will move on to the next grade. 友達　B: うん、合格したよ。進級するよ。 「grade」というのは二つの意味があります。一つは「学年」という事です。もう一つの意味は「成績」という意味です。多分最初に聞くと少しややこしいかもしれないですが、この通りです。 例文（「学年」の意味） What grade are you in? 何年生ですか？ I am in the 2nd grade. 小学校二年生です。 I am in the 7th grade, but next year I will be in the 8th grade. 今は中学校二年生ですが、来年に中学校３年生になります。 アメリカの学校では、幼稚園は一年で、その後は１２年の学年があります。 例文（「成績」の意味） I hope I get good grades this year. 今年良い成績をもらえるといいですね。 I need good grades to get into a good university. 良い大学に入学するために良い成績が必要です。 ご参考までに。
