The word "holiday" in the US denotes an occasion to celebrate. It is more common to call the two month summer break after the school year a "vacation" or "break" because everyone understands it to be a rest from school activities. You can ask other students, "What are you doing on break?" or "Do you have any plans for summer vacation?"
