in other wordsを直訳すると

「すなわち」は英語で「that is to say」、「in other words」と「namely」色んな言い方があります。
全部は同じ意味を表しているので同じように使うことができます。

例文：
「彼はこの会社の一番偉い人、すなわち社長です」→
「He is the most important person at this company, namely he is the company president」
「He is the most important person at this company, in other words he is the company president」」

「彼女は私のお母さんの妹、すなわち私のおばさんです」→
「She is my mother’s sister, in other words she is my aunt」
「She is my mother’s sister, namely she is my aunt」
「She is my mother’s sister, that is to say she is my aunt」
