”食べる” → 間接的な表現では ”have” という表現もまた使えますね。
また、”What would you like to eat for dinner?" というちょっとだけ丁寧に聞くのも、相手がたとえ子供でもまた別に不自然にはなりませんね。

「夕ご飯」はdinner/ supperどちらでもいと思います。
他にもbreakfast(朝ごはん)、
lunch(昼ごはん)、
brunch(遅めの朝ごはん・早めの昼ごはん)
