子供はじっとしていられない。って英語でなんて言うの？

As a mother to two small children, I definitely use this phrase a lot! :) Fidget means to make small movements of the body, especially the hands and feet. Adults usually fidget when they are nervous or uncomfortable, but children seem to do this all the time! It's very common to associate the word fidget with children. "They love to fidget!" "They're always fidgeting!" "They keep fidgeting!" "Sit down please and stop fidgeting!" "Must you always fidget?!" Squirm is to wriggle and move the body about; it is particularly apt when talking about moving around whilst seated. You could easily exchange 'squirm' for 'wriggle'. "They squirm constantly!" "They love to wriggle around!" "Please stop squirming!" "Stop that wriggling and eat your lunch please!" Fussing is more often used in American English than British English. In Britain it means to bother someone or cause a small amount of trouble, for example: "I don't want to make a fuss!". However, in America, it is used to describe small children that do not follow instructions or babies that are crying. "The baby keeps fussing, please give her some milk" "The kids keep fussing, they aren't eating their dinner" You can simply change the "They" at the beginning of each sentence for "The children", "The kids" or the name of the child. "Hannah keeps fidgeting!" "Saori always squirms in her seat!" "Ken keeps fussing!"

"Children don't sit still." This explains that children, in general, do not sit still for long. "They are always on the move." This explains that the children you are talking about are always moving around and don't sit still for long. "They are very busy." This is another way of explaining the children you are talking about are always moving around and doing something.

Example "stop fidgeting and sit still". or "your such a fidget, come sit down and eat your sandwich". "your always twitching". "stop squirming around".

*Children are restless.- If someone is restless it means that they can't stay in one place for a long time because you bored. Therefore this means that children easily get bored and they start doing other activities. *Children are fidgety- You can also say fidgety and means that they can not stay in one place for very long.

In my post, I am giving you simple ways of saying how active children can be. In the last line, I used a very popular phrase in America "ants in your pants". It reflects a child who is so active, that they can't sit still. Also, a more politically correct way of describing an active child is to refer to them as hyper active or simply, "hyper".

"Ants in the pants"..is of course an excellent "Idiom" to use in a situation like this ;-D It is a figurative expression that paints the perfect picture;-)) "A fidgety child" is often too full of enrgy to stay still for long... What a fidgety child he is...he's always got ants in the pants...he just cannot sit still!

If you are full of beans it means you have a lot of excess energy. If you have ants in your pants then it means you cannot be still for a moment. "The children really have ants in the pants today, so let's go to the park."

"Kids are such wiggle worms." Wiggle - when someone or something is twisting and turning around. Worm - an animal that creeps or wiggles across the ground. You can use this expression for a child who just will not sit still but is up then down and moving all around.
