他にも、もっとフォーマルな言い方は「Where do you reside?」もありますが、正直あまり聞きません。
When we ask someone where their home is, we are literally asking where that persons house is.
When we ask someone where they are from we are not necessarily asking where they live, but what country, city or town they are from, and often this can also be where that person lives.
'Reside' is a substitute for the word 'live'.
「Where is your home?」は文字通り、相手の家が[どこに](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/71965/)あるのか聞いています。

All of these sound OK and basically mean the same thing. If you say "Where are you living now?" or "Where have you been living?", it may emphasize that you are interested in their current residence, and not, for example, where they are from originally, where they come from, or how long they lived in their current location.

When we are introducing ourselves, many times we talk about our names, work, hobbies, and also where we are from. It can be good to ask these things so we can know a little more about that person.
To ask this, we can use some different questions.
1) Where do you live?
This question is asking more specifically what part of the city or town that they live in or even what their address is.
2) What country/state/city are you from.
This question is a little more open because we can ask more about what their home of origin is or what country/state/city they are living in now.

The most common question used to identify where someone's home is, would be "Where do you live?" The other two examples are infrequent and alternative forms, both more formal.

When you ask someone, where do you live, you are asking them about their current living residence. When you ask where someone is from, you are asking about where they originally lived and this could be different from there current residence.
Reside is a little more formal.

Where are you from and where do you live are two different question.
Where are you from? is asking someone what country they were born/ lived when they were born & a kid.
