論文って英語でなんて言うの？

論文は英語でthesis, essay, あるいはpaperと言います。

Paperは短いイメージがあります（だいたいは4・５ページぐらい）。例えば I have to write a paper on kabuki this weekend（今週末は歌舞伎についての論文を書かなきゃいけない）。Paperは授業用で出版はされないというイメージもあります。

Thesisは卒論などの長くて大きな論文に使います。例えば I finally finished my doctoral thesis（博士論文がやっと終わった！）

Essayは短いのも長いのもあります。Essayは大体thesis程オフィシャルな物ではないですが、出版される場合もあります。例えば Freud's essays on the Oedipus complex（フロイトのエディプスコンプレックスに関する論文）。

「卒論」は英語でthesisと言います。

a graduation thesis(卒論), a bachelor thesis（学士論文）
と言うこともあります。

「論文」は英語で「thesis」か「dissertation」と言います。博士の論文は一般的に「thesis」と言います。修士号か普通の大学のの論文は一般的に「dissertation」と言います。理系の論文は場合によって「research project」と呼ばれます。

「thesis」,「dissertation」と「paper」は全部「論文」に相当しますが「paper」は「紙」と「新聞」という意味もあります。

「thesis」と「dissertation」はよく区別なしで使われますが正確に言えば「thesis」は修士論文で自分が身に付いた知識や理解を証明する論文です。
「dissertation」は博士論文で自分の研究成果を発表する論文です。

例文１:
The college undergraduate has finally finished his graduation paper.
学生はようやく卒業論文を完成しました。

例文２:
He wrote about Shakespeare's comedy in his master's thesis.
彼の修士論文はシェイクスピアの喜劇についてでした。

He introduced a new theory in his doctoral dissertation.
彼は博士論文で新しい理論を発表しました。
