郵便局員って英語でなんて言うの?

配達している人と、オフィスで働いている人で言い方は違いますか? また、切手を売っている人や貯金を扱う人でも呼び方は変わりますか?

  • The postman

  • The clerk at the post office.

  • The teller at the post bank.

確かにそれぞれ言い方が違います。 配達している人は 'postman' と言いますが郵便局員には言えません。 郵便局員はThe clerk at the post office.とは言います。Staff at the post office.

  • A postal worker

  • The postman

The person who delivers the mail or post is called a postman or postwoman, or in the USA and Canada a mailman or mailwoman. They do all the deliveries door to door. A person who works at the post office is called a postal worker. They have more to do than a postman or woman. They must distribute stamps, accept parcels and also deal with certain types of payments that customers come to pay or get paid. "The postman delivered a parcel today. It's on the table" "The postal worker overcharged me today. She apologised and gave me the right change after that."

  • There are a lot of letters in our mail box that were delivered by the postman this morning.

  • We won't receive any mail today because postal workers are on strike.

If you have a mail box outside your gate, there will always be letters stuck in it by the 'postman', also called the 'mailman' or 'mail carrier'. However, if your residential address is also your postal address, it doesn't matter whether you have a mail box outside your gate or not, the 'postman', 'mailman', or mail carrier will always drop letters addressed to this address at the gate. However, if postal workers are on strike, that is , they are not working because they are demanding salary increases or any other labour matter, your letters may be stuck at the post office. The noun 'postal worker' means anyone who works for the post office including postmen/mailmen/mail carriers. So, you may say: There are a lot of letters in our mail box that were delivered by the postman this morning. or We won't receive any mail today because postal workers are on strike.

  • A post office worker.

  • A delivery man.

  • A postman.

If you are wondering what you would call someone who works in a post office, you can call them "a post office worker". However a person who DELIVERS the mail is called a "delivery man" or " a postman". That is what you call a person who delivers packages or mail to your house.

Someone who works at a post office in any way is called a "postal worker." This can refer to any position at the post office. Someone who delivers mail is called a "mailman." If they are a woman then they would be a "mailwoman." I hope that this helps. :)
