明らかにするって英語でなんて言うの？

「明らかにする」は英語ではいくつもの言い方が考えられます。 （1）と（2）はどちらも同じ意味で、（2）のほうがかたく感じられます。 　「私は[原因](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/36358/)を明らかにしなければならない[性格](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/51413/)です」 　（1）My nature is that I need to make the cause clear. 　（2）My nature is that I need to clarify the cause. 　※ my nature「私の性格」 　　My nature is that 〜. 「私の性格は〜です」 （3）define「〜を明確にする、定義する」 　　この単語は他のものとの違いなどをハッキリとさせたいときに使います。辞書に載っている単語の意味のことを definition と言いますが、この単語が元になっています。 　What's the definition of this word?「この単語の意味は何？」 　ご参考になりましたでしょうか。

The doctor identified the cause of his disease. と言いますと、医師が病気の原因を突き止めたことになります。 identify は、「何かが存在することを明らかにし、示す」という イメージの動詞です。 ex. "to clarify"・"to clear up"・"to make clear" ←この三つはほぼ同じ意味です。 「気が済まない」の英訳： ・"to be uneasy" ・"to not be satisfied" ・"to be unable to relax" また、「（私は）~性格です。」を英訳すると"I am the type of person who ~."が良いと思います。 「原因を明らかにしないと気が済まない性格です。」の例文： ・"I am the type of person who is not satisfied until I have clarified the cause of things." ・"I am the type of person who is not satisfied until I have cleared up the cause of things." ・"I am the type of person who is not satisfied until I have made the cause of things clear."

「明らかにする」は英語で「Make clear」と言えます。全く同じ意味です。Clearは「明らか」の訳出です。例えば I want to make this clear = こんなこと明らかにしたいです/ちゃんと説明したいです ですが、シチュエーションによって使える言い方は違います。「原因を明らかにしたい」を言いたいときに To find out the cause のほうが適切だと思います。他の言い方でしたら　To understand　も使えます。 I am the type that needs to understand everything = 全部明らかにしないと気が済まないタイプです。 他の例は： 事故の原因を明らかにする = To find out the cause of the accident

基本的に、「明らかにする」の英訳は以上と通りですが、言いたがる文章の英訳は違います。 「原因を明らかにする」 の英訳は： find out the reason (forかbehind something) = 原因を引き出す get to the bottom (of something) = 真相・本当の原因を探す ですから、「原因を明らかにしないと気が済まない性格です」の英訳は："I’m the kind of person that cannot rest until I clearly find out the reason behind something." the kind of person that~ = ~のような人、~タイプ、~性格 cannot rest / cannot feel at ease = 気が済まない clearly = 明らかに

この文脈での「明らかにする」は英語で make clear と言います。 「原因を明らかにしないと気が済まない性格です」は I'm the type of person who isn't satisfied until I make the cause of the problem clear が一つの言い方です。 しかし、実は、「明らかにする」を is made clear（明らかにされる）にする方がナチュラルな言い方です。 例） I'm the type of person who isn't satisfied until the cause of the problem is made clear 私は原因が明らかにされるまで気が済まない性格です ご参考になれば幸いです。
