  • You have grown a lot!

  • You've really grown!

    play icon

「You sure have grown!」 「You've really grown!」 「You're so big now!」 ↓ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My, you sure have grown, Sally! Wow, how you've grown, Anna! Gee, you're so big now, Diane! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • Wow. You've grown!

  • Look how big you are.

    play icon

  • You have grown so much.

    play icon

All of these expressions show your surprise and pay a compliment to your niece. You can use your hands to show how much they have grown. If it is an older child, maybe a teenager, you could say - you look so grown up - almost an adult. Hope this helps Jane :)
You look so grown up - almost an adult.(大きくなったね、もう大人だね)と言うことができます。

  • ①You have grown up!

  • ②You have really grown up since I saw you last.

    play icon

①You have grown up! ②You have really grown up since I saw you last. since I saw you last「以前私があなたに会って以来」→「しばらくみないうちに」 ご参考になれば幸いです。

  • You have surely grown.

  • You are such a big girl now.

    play icon

1) You have surely grown. - This means that you had imagined how much they have grown and seeing her was reassurance that she has grown a lot. 2)You are such a big girl now. -Big in this case does not mean the literal sense. However it refers to how much they have grown.
1) You have surely grown. 2)You are such a big girl now.

  • You're all grown up now, time flies!

    play icon

1. You're all grown up now, time flies! You can use this statement to let the person know you think that they have grown up fast. The expression "time flies"means that time passes quickly. So you are saying time has passed quickly and now the niece is all grown up.
You're all grown up now, time flies!

  • My, have you grown!

  • Look how big you've gotten!

    play icon

"My, have you grown! " "my" is a shortening of the phrase, "oh, my goodness!" to express surprise. "Look how big you've gotten!" is another way to express surprise. When you say "look!" you are pointing out something amazing. e.g. "Look at the sky, it's so beautiful tonight!" "Look! It's a shooting star!"
"My, have you grown!" "Look how big you've gotten!"(どんなにあなたが大きくなったか見てよ!) 例 "Look at the sky, it's so beautiful tonight!"(空を見て、今夜はとても美しいよ!) "Look! It's a shooting star!"(見て!

If you haven't seen a niece or nephew in a long time we would exclaim "You've gotten so big!" or "Look how big you are!". You can also playfully ask their parents "What are you feeding them?" as a way to show how shocked you are that they have grown so much.

"Hey Sally, you were a baby the last time I saw you! look how tall you are now!"(サリー、最後に会ったときはまだ赤ちゃんだったのに、大きくなったね) "Wow! You have grown into a beautiful young lady Sam!"(サム、すっかりきれいな女性になったね)
