「仲良くなる」は become friends 「友達になる」ということが多いですが、この場合はすでに友達で更に距離が縮まるということなので、become closer を使っています。

私から見ると「共通点」と最も近い表現は things in common になります。

common ground は土地が同じという意味で、「共通点」の言い方になります。

「友達との共通点を見つけると早く仲良くなれると思います」というのは I think if you find things in common with your friend, it's easier to become close to each other で表現できます。

1) Are you close to Yuki?
2) Yes. We have a lot in common so we hang out a lot.

1) Do you have much in common with Takeshi?
2) No. We don't have many similar interests.
