  • I brought my own lunch today

I packed my own lunch today=今日はお弁当持って来ちゃった I brought my own lunch today=今日はお弁当持って来ちゃった 「お弁当」は直訳出来ませんが、どちらとも同じ意味です。 断る時はちゃんとフォローも入れるとスマートです: Sorry I can't join you guys, I packed my own lunch today. Maybe tomorrow? ごめん、お弁当持って来ちゃったから皆と一緒に行けないや。明日はどうかな?

  • I brought a packed lunch today, let's do it another time?

A 'packed lunch' is the way in the UK that we describe bringing your own lunch with you to work, school, or some other place. Every morning at school, children are asked by their teacher what they will eat at lunchtime, the teacher reads the name from the register of each pupil and each child must say either "packed lunch" or "hot lunch". A packed lunch is brought from home, and a hot lunch is a meal provided by the school, most often cooked and served hot.
packed lunch'とは職場、学校やその他の場所へ持ってくるお弁当事をイギリスでは言います。 毎朝学校では、先生がそれぞれの生徒にお昼には "packed lunch"(お弁当)か "hot lunch"(給食)のどちらを食べるのか読み上げられます。 "packed lunch"(お弁当)は家から持ってきたもので"hot lunch" とは学校で支給される給食の事です。

This way person will not feel so rejected. “I appreciate your kind gesture” = This means you are happy someone can show kind actions. • Can I take a raincheck today? I bought my own lunch.

If you want to decline the offer to go to lunch, you can use any of the following expressions. Have a look also at the example sentences:- 1. Thanks for the offer, but I already bought my lunch. Example sentence:- Micky :" Would you like to join me for lunch today?" Kiki: "Thanks for the offer, but I bought my own lunch today." 2. Can I take a raincheck today? I bought my own lunch. Example sentence:- Randy: "I want to visit that new restaurant in town for luch today, care to join me?" Mandy: " Can I take a raincheck today? I bought my own lunch."

  • I unfortunately packed my own lunch today, I am so sorry!

  • I brought my own lunch today. Maybe we can go to lunch tomorrow?

1) I unfortunately packed my own lunch today, I am so sorry! - This is a very apologetic answer to your coworker. Firstly, the word "unfortunate" has connotations of expressing regret. This means that you actually telling your coworker that you regret bringing your own lunch. 2)I brought my own lunch today. Maybe we can go to lunch tomorrow? -These 2 sentences are not as apologetic as the first sentence above. You state that you have your lunch, but you then offer another time when you can go out to lunch.

  • Sorry, I brought my own lunch today.

  • Sorry, I have my own lunch today.

  • Sorry, I packed my own lunch today.

Here are three different phrases we can say to our colleague when we have already brought our lunch with us and we're not interested in going out for lunch. Notice that all three phrases are exactly same in sentence structure with the verbs, "brought," "have," and, "packed," being used interchangeably.

  • Thanks for the offer, but I have already brought my lunch for today, let's get lunch next time!

This is a good way to thank them for inviting you to go out for lunch while informing you that you have already brought your lunch. Saying let's get lunch next time, on the end is a positive phrase, because even though you can't get lunch with them today, it shows that you want to get lunch with them in the near future.
