が原因でって英語でなんて言うの？

caused by とは「が原因で」という意味です。「根」を指します。

「屋根のヒビが原因で雨漏りした」の場合、英語にしたら、"The leakage was caused by cracks on the roof."

他の例：
The lung cancer was caused by many years of smoking. 「長年の喫煙が原因で肺がんになった」

ちなみに cause はここでは動詞で使っていますが、名詞の「原因」という意味で使うこともできます。

「が原因で」は the reason for で言えます。

「屋根のヒビが原因で雨漏りした」というのは the crack in the roof was the reason for the leak で表現できます。

このように、caused.../ caused by〜が「原因」になります。
