Each of these responses are casual and friendly ways to ask a staff member at any business what would be a good recommendation from them. The first one is a bit more formal in asking but also very general so they may just suggest what they have heard many people like to eat when visiting. The second response is more personal and is what I like to ask because it allows the person to say where they personally eat. When asking this way they will be exciting to hear what you thought of the place and would most likely recommend something really good. The last one is a very casual way and informal way to ask it. Each of the questions would give you the answer you want.

"Which local restaurants would you recommend?": This answer is direct and appropriately polite, and the other person will understand that you are looking for a good restaurant. "Local" refers to the nearby area or neighbourhood.

"Are there any good restaurants around here?": Again the other person will easily understand that you need a recommendation. We use 'are' instead of 'is' because there is more than one restaurant.

If you are telling someone you want something that is nearby and not too far to go then you could say 'in the area' or 'near here' this would explain this
To recommend means to give or get an opinion about something (a good restaurant)
