これは一つの言い方が specifics です。specifics は飽くまで「詳細」という意味です。なので、「応募者にきちんと作業内容を理解してもらいたいです」を言いたいなら、I want the applicant to understand the specifics of the job. と言えます。もうちょっとカジュアルな言い方は ins and outs です。この場合、I want the applicant to understand the ins and outs of the job と言えます。私でしたら、ins and outs を使うと思います。
