役所で申告することは「Declare」すると言います。
空港でも、輸入品には申告するべきものがあります。
例えば、１万ドル以上輸入するなら、申告が必要です。
例文：
- You must make a declaration if you are carrying over $10,000 into the country
- Please declare your taxes by March 15th
「申告」を名詞として使えば、a report
動詞にすれば、to report になり、
二つの必要な部分をつけなければなりません。
それは「何を申告するか」が答えることと、「誰に申告するか」が答える人です。
「何を申告するか」を答えるなら、そのままつけます。
to report the news (情報を申告する）
「誰に申告するか」を答えるなら to をつけます。
to report the news to the company (企業にその情報を申告する）
「申告する」という言葉を英語で表すと、「declare」という言葉も「report」という言葉も使っても良いと考えました。この二つの言葉は動詞です。過去形は「declared」と「reported」です。例えば、「We must declare our income to the city office.」も「We must report our income to the city office.」も言っても良いです。「City office」は「市役所」という意味があって、「income」は「所得」という意味があります。「Must ~」は「〜をしなければならない」です。
to notify というのは「知らせる」という意味です。
to inform というのは「告げる」という意味です。
たとえば、
We will inform you after we make a decision. =決定後、お知らせします。
We should notify our customers about the change. = 変更についてお客様に通知する必要があります。
