Hey there Kanako!

Elephants have noses

This restaurant has a good atmosphere

I have ~ (before) です。

I've eaten sushi (before)
I've been to America before
I've thought of that before.

Think of ~
Think about ~

I thought about you
I thought of you

I have never thought about it

I never lied

I have never even thought of that before.

  • I've never thought about it.

    play icon

I've never thought about it.

I never thought about it.

  • I have never thought about that.

I have never thought about that.

It's an interesting question.
Let me think.

  • I'm not sure what to say.

  • I haven't thought about that before.

    play icon

  • I really don't know about that.

These answers imply you haven't considered the question's content before.

  • It has never crossed my mind.

    play icon

If something crossed your mind it means you have thought about it before.
For example: 'What was the first thing that crossed your mind when you won the prize?"
What was the first thing that crossed your mind when you won the prize?"

1 is a statment that expresses the fact that you cannot answer that question.
2 means that you never thought about it before.
3 means that you never thought about it before.

*Before -during the period of time preceding (a particular event or time).
Example-"she had to rest before dinner"

It's a very good question and not a difficult answer. I've had the same situations before and usually, I use the first sentence I wrote as an example, although, feel free to use the second one too.

  • I've never thought about that.

    play icon

  • Well, I have never considered that/it.

    play icon

I've never thought about that.

If you could be a combination of two animals, what would you be?
That is a hard one, I have never thought about that before.
I know, it is a difficult one. Take your time.
I think I would be a Dolphin and a Monkey.

I hope that helps.
Have a great day.

You can use any of the above two sentences to tell someone that you have never thought about something before.

Example;
A; Have you wondered why they always put uncooked dry rice in a salt shaker?
B; No, I haven't given it much thought until now.

  • I've never thought about it.

  • I've never even given thought to that.

These are both clear expressions that people use to say they have never thought about that topic or situation before. While "I've never thought about it." is much more commonly used, "I've never even given thought to that." is emphasizing the point a bit more strongly.

"I've never thought about it."(それについて考えたことはない)の方が一般的です。
"I've never even given thought to that."(それについて考えたことすらない)は少し強調した言い方です。
