別行動をするって英語でなんて言うの？

日本語のように、一言で言うのは難しいかもですね・・・。 カジュアルな場面や友人との会話で、自分たちが別行動をとることを説明する場合、主に次のフレーズを使うことができます： 「split up」、「go it separately」、「go it solo」 「(let's) split up」、「(let's) go it separately」などの、比較的長いフレーズになってしまいますが、 慣れてくるとわりと簡単です！ 恐れずに使いましょう！ 「14時から16時まではお互い別行動にしない？」 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Let's split up from 2 to 4 p.m. Let's go it separately from 2 to 4 p.m. Let's go it solo from 2 to 4 p.m. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 「これからちょっと別行動にしない？」 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Want to split up for a bit? Kazu さんへ 既に先の回答者様がアドバイスされている内容が ございますので、私からは追加で紹介致します。 （4月のご質問への回答となり、恐縮です） 今回お尋ねの英語を難しくしているのは 「別行動」という日本語かもしれませんね。 「別」は separate?「行動」は action? schedule? などと迷ってしまうということもあるかもしれません。 上記の go to different places でしたら、シンプルに 「違う場所へ行く」ということで、「別行動」の状況を きちんと表すことが出来ます。 　ex. Shall we go to different places from 10 to 12? 「10時から12時は、それぞれ違う場所に行かない？」 ここでの留意点は・・・ ①different【places】と複数形にしないと 「それぞれ違う場所」のニュアンスが出せません。 ※二人いれば二つ場所が必要なので、複数形です ②「同じ場所、つまりある美術館内で別行動」 ということでしたら、この表現は使えません。 以上、お答えになっておりますでしょうか。 このように「日本語（別行動）→英語」という翻訳を離れて 「こんな場面でなら英語で何と言うか」という発想を 身に付けることができると、確実に英会話は上達します。 ところがこの事は、教師が言うのは簡単で 学習者の方が実際に身に付けるのには練習が必要ですね。 幸い当サイトは、「別行動は、○○○という英語で 合っていますか？」的な質問の仕方もできますので そうした練習も兼ねて、「英語にできない日本語」を 自分なりの英語で表現する練習を積まれることを お勧めいたします（蛇足、失礼致しました）。 少しでもお役に立てますと幸いです。 KAZUさんの英語学習の成功を心より願っています。 LLD外語学院　学院長　前川　未知雄

We can use either the verbs, "to split up," or, "to go separately," to express that the group will break up into smaller groups or on our own at a certain point during the vacation. Example sentences : - We have to split up into groups for the museum tour. - If you want to go there, you have to go separately.

・「Why don't we go our separate ways?」 「Why don't we ～？」は直訳すると「何故私たちは～しないのですか？」となり、要は「～しませんか？」と何かを提案したり、誘ったりする場合に使われるフレーズです。 「separate」は「 別々の」、「way(s)」は「道」なので、 文章全体で「別々の道を行きませんか？→別行動しませんか？」という意味になります。 ○時から○時までと言いたいときは、最後に 「from ○ to ○」とつけて、 Why don't we go separately from 3 to 5 ? (3時から5時まで別行動しない？）と言えばオッケーです。 またこの「Why don't we go separately？」というフレーズは、ドラマなどで、カップルのお別れのシーンでも使われています。日本語の「俺たち別々の道を歩まないか？」っていうヤツです。笑　言い方のテンション次第で、まったく違うシチュエーションで使えるフレーズですね。 ・「I'll go alone.」 こちらはもうそのままです。「独りで行くわ。」 ご参考になれば嬉しいです^^☆

Being in a group is nice at times, but it's also good to be able to separate and do your own thing. We may not want to do the same things as the rest of the group because they might not interest us or we feel tired. Let's split up" is a way of saying that we will all go our own ways. Just like if you were to split something that you are holding in your hand such as a biscuit.

If you would like to explain to someone that you will be splitting up with your friends for a period of time, you can say something like "We are going to split up for a while after this and go to different places." or "We're going to go on our separate ways and then meet up again later.".
