  • It's more time consuming than it looks.

  • You have no idea how long it actually takes.

It takes longer than you think. "Take long" = 長く時間がかかる。 "~(比較級)~than you think" = 思ってる以上に 例) 思ってる以上に難しいんだよ = It's more difficult than you think. "Than you think" のthinkをlookに変えることで、「見た目より」という意味になります。 "Time consuming" = 時間がかかる "You have no idea how long it takes" これは質問文の直訳ではありませんが、「どれくらい時間がかかるのかあなたはわからないでしょ!」という意味で、とにかく時間がかかるということをアピールする際には使えます。

If someone is going as fast as they can it means that they are completing the task with maximum haste. 'Rome wasn't built in a day!' is an adage attesting to the need for time to create great things. 'Hold your horses!' "Hold your horses", sometimes said as "Hold the horses", is a common idiom to mean "hold on" or wait. The phrase is historically related to horse riding, or driving a horse-drawn vehicle. 'Horses' is sometimes changed to 'hosses' to imitate a north American cowboy accent.
もし誰かができるだけ早く進んでいるなら、最も速く仕事を完了していることを意味します。 'Rome wasn't built in a day!'ローマは一日にしてならず。これは、偉大なものを創造するためには、時間が必要だと証明する格言です。 'Hold your horses!' と言われることもありますが、「hold the horse」ことは、辛抱する、待つ、ということを意味する一般的なイディオムです。このフレーズは、歴史的には乗馬、または馬車を運転することに関係しています。北米のカウボーイのアクセントを模倣するために、「horses」が時々「hosses」に変更されます。

  • Its a complex piece of work and therefore takes longer than you think

  • It looks easy to do but in practice, it takes longer than you think.

    play icon

In the first sentence, you have used the adjective 'complex' which in this context means 'consisting of many different and connected parts' and also the phrase ' piece of work'. So, you are actually saying that because this piece of work consists of many different and connected parts, it cannot be done that quickly, it takes longer than the other person thinks. In the second sentence, you have started by saying 'it looks easy to do', and then used the noun 'practice', which in this context means 'the actual application or use of an idea, belief, or method, as opposed to theories relating to it'.
最初の文では、形容詞の'complex'(複合の)この文脈では`色々な要素で構成されている` という意味合いを持ち ' piece of work'(仕事)に掛かっています。 つまり、このフレーズで`この仕事は複雑な要素か関わっているので、 みんなが思っているより時間が掛かりそう簡単に出来ない`という事を言っています。 2番目の文では、 'it looks easy to do'(簡単に見えるけど)という文で始め、名詞 'practice`(実践.履行)を使いました。 この文脈では`アイデアやある方法がこうなるであろうという予測に対して、を実際にやってみること`という意味です。
