のほかって英語でなんて言うの?

思いのほか綺麗だったというときの「のほか」って英語で何ていうのでしょうか?

思いのほかは思っていた以上にという意味ですね。 ということはこの「ほか」は beyond という意味になります。 もし beyond を使って言うなら、 ー The scenery was beautiful beyond anything we expected. 「その景色は思いのほか綺麗だった。」 「思いのほか綺麗だった」は ~ was beautiful beyond anything we expected / beyond our expectation 「思いのほか」は surprisingly を使っても言えます。 ー She was surprisingly beautiful. 「彼女は思いのほか綺麗だった。」 surprisingly は「思いのほか・意外に」 これはちょっと失礼な言い方ですね。 ご参考まで!
