近所に湖があるのですが、車が鎖（ロープのような）をつっきって湖に落ちたらしいです。

後半はShe must have been driving so fast でいいと思うのですが前半何と言ったらよいでしょうか。

「鎖を突っ切って湖に落ちるなら、スピードを出していたに違いない。」
speedは動詞で「スピードを出しすぎる・スピード違反をする」という意味です。
