「履きなれた靴」は二つの訳し方があると思っています。
一つは「comfortable shoes」と呼べます。しかし、これは履きなれてなくても快適という意味が含まれているので、新しい靴も「comfortable shoes」と言えます。
なので、「shoes that young people have worn in」「worn in」は履きなれていると言う意味です。
または、「broken in」でも使えます。
