行きつけのお店や小さいお店だったら「いいよそれくらい」って言うかもしれないですし、小さい子供が目の前でそう言う状況に追い込まれてたら「やれやれ」って微笑みながら１０円あげちゃいますよね。
お金を下ろしにいったりどこかに取りに行く場合はこう言いましょう：
I'll need to go to the ATM to get some money, so could you hold onto that?＝ATMに行ってお金を下ろして来るからそれレジに置いといてもらえますか？
幾つかの物を買っていて、一番要らない物を省いてお会計を間に合わせたい場合：

I'm short いくらいくらとはお金が足りない事を指します。
例文：I'm short on change so can I borrow some coins for now? = 自分今小銭切らしててとりあえず今小銭かしてもらっていい。

When we go to pay and we realize that we do not have enough money we say we are 'short', plus the amount of money still needed.
For example:
We go to the cash register and the store clerk rings up all of our items and says "That'll be $30.00". If we only have $20.00 we would say, "I am 10 dollars short". If a friend is nearby it is okay to say "I am 10 dollars short, could you please give me 10 dollars and I'll pay you back later?"
To pay back= to give borrowed money in return.
Short generally is used when we talk about length or height but in this case we also use "short" when speaking about the remaining money owed for something. High cannot be used to say the opposite. "I have 10 yen high." This is not correct. To say you have too much money one would say: "I have ten yen too much".

'short'は長さや高さなどが足りない時に使います。

逆に'High'は同じようには使えません。
"I have 10 yen high"といった表現はありません。
そういった時は、”I have ten yen too much".（10円余分に持っている）といいましょう。

*I am sorry but I am ten yen short.- This is a simple way of saying it.
*My bad. I thought I had enough money but I am ten yen short.- "My bad" means that you are acknowledging that you made a mistake. This means that you apologizing for the mistake ,however, you thought you had carried enough cash.
シンプルに "I am sorry but I am ten yen short.”(すみません。10円足りません。）と伝えられます。

Here are three common phrases that we would use to describe this idea of missing or being short 10 yen. Notice that in the first two examples, we can move around this word, "short," within the sentence but still have the meaning come out the same. In the last example, we can use the progressive verb, "am missing," to say that we are lacking 10 yen from the total.
I thought I had more money with me, I am still short a little money
"I am sorry but I am short ten yen": In this situation, we are apologising for not having the right amount of money. When we say "short" we mean to say that we are lacking this amount of money. It is the same word we use when talking about somebody's height.
"I thought I had more money with me, I am still short a little money". We want to say that we originally believed that we had enough money to pay for what we want, but then we realised that we don't and cannot pay the remainder.
"I am sorry but I am short ten yen"（すみません、10円足りません）
ここでは、ちょうどの金額がないことをわびています。"short" は「（金額が）足りない」という意味です。"short" は身長についても使われます。
"I thought I had more money with me, I am still short a little money"（もう少しお金があると思ったのですが、少し足りません）
これは「お金が足りると思っていたけど、見てみたら足りなかった」という意味です。

When paying for something, you thought you had just the right amount of coins, but you were 10 yen short. You would like to know what to say in this situation. In that case, any of the above suggested sentences should fit your scenario.
The phrase 'to be short' means to not have enough money. So therefore, to be short _________, means that you lack _______ amount of money.
EX) I'm short 2 dollars, is that okay?

If you thought you had enough change but came up short and want to express this, you can say something like "Oh no, I'm 10 yen short." or "Oh gosh, I thought I had enough change but it looks like I am short 10 yen.". These are both polite ways to tell someone that you are short 10 yen.
